This month GuideStone Funds marks 10 years as a mutual fund family. During the past decade, GuideStone Funds has grown to meet the ever-changing demands of our participants.
Prior to 1997, the Annuity Board of the Southern Baptist Convention had four monthly-valued, commingled pools. In 1997, the Annuity Board increased the four funds to 13 daily valued commingled pools, introducing four Blended Funds and nine Select Funds.
GuideStone Funds was then launched on August 27, 2001, as a family of Christian-based, socially screened, registered mutual funds sponsored by GuideStone Financial Resources. GuideStone Capital Management, a controlled-affiliate of GuideStone Financial Resources, is the Funds' investment adviser.
Below are some highlights in the history of GuideStone Funds:
- August 27, 2001: AB Funds Trust launches with 13 funds and three share classes: retirement, retail and institutional share classes.
- July 2, 2003: four institutional class Blended Funds were added to fund lineup.
- November 8, 2004: the share class names changed (e.g. GS4).
- September 13, 2005: AB Funds Trust became GuideStone Funds and ticker symbols were introduced.
- December 29, 2006: five GuideStone Date Target Funds were added to fund lineup.
- December 29, 2006: GuideStone Global Bond Fund and the GuideStone Real Estate Securities Fund were added to fund lineup.
- June 25, 2009: GuideStone Inflation Protected Bond Fund was added to fund lineup.
- August 27, 2011: GuideStone Funds Celebrates 10 Years.
